Here's a roundup of items discussed last week at the Riverview School Board's November voting meeting:
AFS Student
Riverview High School is hosting a student from abroad. Isabella Gudmundsdottir has been accepted as a student via the AFS Intercultural Programs. She has been studying at the school since Nov. 13, and Superintendent Peggy DiNinno said current students have been welcoming Isabella. She also participated in a field trip to see the band's flash mob performance downtown.

Personnel
Language Arts Facilitator

Lori Ruggiero has been named the full language arts coordinator at Verner Elementary. Ruggiero previously shared the position with Kristy Lape, who resigned Sept. 19.
Leave
Jill Waffensmith will be on leave from Jan. 2 to June 7, 2013.
Long-term Substitute
Ashley Duncan of Oakmont has been named a long-term substitute while Waffensmith is on leave.
Student Teachers
Duquesne University students Morgan Herbert and Joyce Hinnebusch will be student teaching in the district from Jan. 2 to April 12, 2013, teaching secondary social studies and secondary English, respectively.
Targeted Assistance
The following teachers have been approved for targeted assistance: Steve Rowe, Krista Simon, Annmarie Rodrigues, Melissa Walewski and Cathy Favo.
Alternative Education
Teachers Robert Lindeman, Michelle Walsh, Brooke Pegher and Todd Andrulis have been named the core content teachers for the Riverview alternative education program for four hours each week.
Band Trip
The Riverview High School music students will be heading to Virginia Beach, Va., on April 25, 2013.
