Riverview School Board Notebook: September Voting Meeting

The Riverview School Board acted on several items at its Sept. 19 voting meeting. Here's a roundup of items discussed:

Retirement

The board approved the retirement resignation of Nancy Morrison, the superintendent's secretary and school board treasurer/recording secretary, effective Dec. 31.

Computer Lab Aide

Judene Sykes was hired as a Class III Paraprofessional Computer Lab Aide at Tenth Street Elementary School. Sykes is replacing Kathy Milberger, who resigned. There is a 60-day probationary period associated with the position.

Supplemental Contracts

The board approved the following supplemental contract items:

Fred Jones resigned as the junior high head wrestling coach and the varsity assistant track coach.

Terri Bracco was named the softball junior varsity coach.

Steve Meyers was named the soccer volunteer coach.

Erin Kovacs was named the French Club sponsor.

Targeted Assistance

The following teachers were approved for the Targeted Assistance Math and Reading program:

Mike McNally, Cathy Cecil, Jennifer Clontz, Linda Rosenstock, Kristen Rapp,  Jennifer Zenarel, Ashlee Schrecengost, Lori Ruggiero, Carolyn Cicero, Beth Funtal and Audrey Terebessy.

Alternative Education

District teachers Robert Lindeman, Michelle Walsh, Brooke Pegher and Todd Andrulis were appointed as core content teachers of record for the Riverview Junior-Senior High School Alternative Education program for four hours per week. PJ Smerdel is the full-time teacher assigned to the program.

Model UN

Riverview High School students will participate in the Model UN competitions at Princeton and Yale this year under the supervision of teacher Ken Kubistek.
