Two Finalists Selected in Riverview Superintendent Search

The school board, teachers and administrators will interview the two candidates this week.

The field of candidates for the next Riverview superintendent continues to narrow.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the two finanlists for the position will be interviewed by the school board, teachers, administrators and parents.

The board received about 25 applications for the superintendent position.

Superintendent Chuck Erdeljac will retire at the end of the school year. The district sought candidates through the Pennsylvania School Board Association statewide network for the opening Erdeljac’s retirement leaves behind.

The district's PSBA consultant has been collecting information and calling references for the two final candidates chosen by the school board. School board member John Hackworth said officials should be receiving that information soon.

Hackworth said officials would review the material received by PBSA thoroughly after interviewing the two candidates. He also said he would like the board to meet before making an official decision.

"I would like to hear what the rest of the board says before we cast our vote," he said. "We've got a bunch of eyes and people saying different things, and I think there's a benefit to hearing what everyone has to say."

School board member Lisa Ashbaugh agreed.

"I really do want to review everything they bring forth about the candidates," she said.
