More than 1 million Americans have Parkinson’s, and 50,000 new cases are diagnosed every year, affecting those with the disease and their caretakers. Moving Day helps the NPF provide education and resources; offer outreach programming; support research on Parkinson’s-related treatment; train healthcare professionals dealing with Parkinson’s; and raise awareness with government officials and communities throughout the U.S. Couric, whose father recently died from Parkinson’s-related complications, continues to support the annual Moving Day walk.

This year’s event moves to a much larger venue to accommodate participants who will be walking, stretching, or simply moving to unite in the fight against Parkinson’s disease (PD).

In addition to the 1.5-mile walk, participants may visit the “Movement Pavilion,” and join in activities like yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, dance, and other forms of exercise.  Kids especially will have a variety of activities in which to participate, including face painting, tattoos, Mike the Balloon Guy, Music by Joe Grushecky, Eat n Park Simile cookies and much more.
