As soon as the Verona 5K race was finished; Verona Municipal building parking lot was transformed into a Bike Derby. Pat McCarthy and Gus Bell's group found each bike’s serial number and wrote it down; Rhoda and Don Worf measured and distributed helmets, Dirty Harry’s guys examined the bikes and made repairs; Bonnie Conway. Annette Bracken, and Linda Romick made hot dogs and popcorn and passed out the Hugs. Other helpers included
The policemen and Tom Gravel set up a driver’s course. The school nurse was there with packets of first aid information for the riders. The VFD firemen were on hand to see that the helicopter landed and took off safely and Guardian Angels was there to protect in case of scrapes and bruises or more serious injury ---of which there were none.
A good day and a good way to start the summer fun.
