Verona Vues

State Representative Tony Deluca is hosting his annual Senior Fair on Thursday, October 3 from 10 am to 1 pm in 3 Lakes Golf Course (formerly Alcoma Golf Club) which is located at 6700 Saltsburg Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

 

The October Exhibit at the Boulevard Gallery will be held Saturday, October 5 through the 26th.  Works featured will include multi-media pieces by Barbara Miller and photographer Frank Bruno and Designs by Gretch (genuine fur bags, puses, & vests).  An artists’ reception will be held on Saturday, October 5 from 6 to 9 pm in the Boulevard Gallery located at 736 Allegheny River Blvd, Verona.  For more information, contact 412-828-1031 or www.BoulevardGallery.com

A special Blood Drive is being held for Keith Amos at Oakmont Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October, 13 from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm.  Keith continues his courageous battle with stage IV diffused large B cell leukemia.  Part of his treatment is to receive blood transfusions.  The blood from previous drives has been diminished and he is in need of replacement again.  If you would like to register for this blood drive, contact David Geis at 724-443-5447.  If you are registering at the Central Blood Bank, please use SPONSOR CODE ZRTN0990 in order to have your blood donation credited to Keith’s account.

A reminder: the Verona United Methodist Church Apple Dumpling Gang is at it again every Wednesday in October.  Apple Dumplings are $3.50 per dumpling.  To order your dumplings, call the church office at 412-828-8844.  The church is located on the corner of Herron and Center avenues.

 

Have you registered yet?  Have you decided on your costume?  Have you signed up donors?  The first ever Verona Zombie Bar Crawl fund raising event is set for October 12, from 7 to 8:30 pm.  The Zombie Crawl is in honor of the Revitalization of Verona and all proceeds from this event will benefit the Revitalization of Verona.  Donation checks should be made out to Verona Chamber of Commerce.  Your hostess for the evening will be Lisa Fyke, owner of Rivertowne Inn located at 500 Jones Street, Verona.  If you would like more information, call Lisa at 412-716-7293 or email her at lisa@myrivertowne.com or best yet why not go down to Rivertowne Inn and talk to her while sipping a brew?

 

The last day for Verona’s Farmers’ Market is Wednesday, October 10 from 2 to 6 pm in the Railroad Park on East Railroad Avenue.  Time to stock up on honey, jams and jellies, cookies, veggies to freeze or can, or some of the other goodies the famers have been nurturing all Spring and Summer just for you.

 

Rounding out October are an indoor movie on Friday, October 25 at 7:30 pm in the Borough building located on East Railroad Avenue, a Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 11 am starting on East Railroad Avenue, and finally Halloween Trick or Treating on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 pm.
