'Networking for a Cause' to Benefit Military Connections Christmas Stocking Drive

The event will be held on Nov. 2 in Fox Chapel.

The Business Leads Exchange Networking Group's "Networking for a Cause" event will be held on Nov. 2.

Comfort Inn at RIDC Park in Fox Chapel will host the event from 5 to 8 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Military Connections Christmas Stocking Drive.

Military Connections operates out of Penn Hills and is run by Summer Tissue, Plum resident and Oakmont Chamber of Commerce director. This year, the organization is planning on sending Christmas stockings to U.S. Troops stationed overseas. The stockings will be filled with food, snacks and supplies.

The cost to attend the networking event is $10 per person. It includes snacks, a door prize ticket and networking opportunities. There will be a cash jar.

Vendor/display tables with a cloth and skirt are available for $40. Tables will be sold on first-come-first-served bases.

Hand out tables for people to place handouts and/or business cards cost $10.

Anyone interested in purchasing a table can mail a $40 or $10 check to BLX Networking to Carol Briney, 134 West 8th St., Aspinwall, Pa. 15215. They also can bring payments to any box events or to the Oakmont Chamber of Commerce office on Allegheny River Boulevard.

Event tickets can be purchased through the mail with a check—your ticket will held at the door—or with cash by contacting Summer Tissue  at militaryconnections@hotmail.com.

Attendees are encouraged to bring any of the following items to be used in the Christmas stockings for U.S. troops. For each item you donate you will receive an extra door prize ticket.

Items include canned Chef Boyardee with pop-top lids, white athletic socks (ankle or calf), individual packs of crackers, powdered drink mix, pouches of tuna, gum, granola bars, power bars, lip balm and pretzels.
