Oakmont's Theresa Creighan Deployed To Gulf Coast for Hurricane Isaac Response

Several Red Cross volunteers from the Pittsburgh area are in the Gulf Coast preparing to help residents there in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac.

Several Pittsburgh area Red Cross volunteers are in the Gulf Coast helping residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac.

More than a dozen people from western Pennsylvania, including Oakmont resident Theresa Creighan, are just a few of the estimated 1,000 Red Cross volunteers who are in the area to help prepare shelters and assist anyone in need.

Some of the other local volunteers include Rose Marie Malizio of Heidelberg, Joseph Korinchak of Gibsonia, Jeanette Patsakis of Mt. Lebanon, Ken Brown of Jefferson Hills and Denae McCall of Shaler.

“They’re able to help out in areas in our region, but also able to deploy and help in these larger national disasters, as well,” Pittsburgh Red Cross spokeswoman Lauren Chapman said.

Creighan has been a Red Cross volunteer for about eight years and has been deployed to several locations to provide aid close to 40 times.
