Five Things to Know: Oakmont Meeting on Speedway, Verona Zombie Crawl

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Oakmont Borough Council Special Meeting 

Oakmont Borough Council will reconvene a special meeting on Monday, Oct. 7 to vote on the conditions to impose on the proposed Speedway gas station on Hulton Road. The meeting is a continuation of the special meeting held on Sept. 30.

Following the special meeting, council will hold its monthly work session.

2. Verona Council Meeting

What’s going on in your town? Find out in person when Verona Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 inside the council chambers of the municipal building on East Railroad Street.

3. Verona Zombie Crawl

Organized by Rivertowne Inn owner Lisa Fykes, the first ever Verona Zombie Bar Crawl takes place between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. The event kicks off at the Rivertowne Inn on Jones Street in Verona.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Verona Revitalization Project.

4. $10,000 Reverse Raffle at St. Irenaeus

The last number called at the reverse raffle Ten Grand Dinner Saturday, Oct. 12 at St. Irenaeus church in Oakmont will win $10,000. 

Donations are $100 per ticket and only 250 tickets will be sold. This includes a dinner catered by Hoffstots. Every 10th number called at the event receives a prize. All proceeds benefit St. Irenaeus School.

5. Basket and Gift Card Bash in Plum

A basket and gift card bash will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Holiday Park Fire Hall in Plum.

The $15 admission ticket includes 30 chances to win, plus entry to a pasta bar. There also are $10 non-admission tickets including 30 chances to win, but no pasta bar.

All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association American Heart Walk.
