Three adults and two children were taken to hospitals late Sunday night.
Five people were injured after a late-night accident Sunday along Route 286 in Plum. According to an accident report filed by the Plum Police Department, the two-vehicle accident occurred at the Route286/Holiday Park Drive intersection just before 11 p.m. on Sunday. A Dodge Durango, driven by a 17-year-old Plum resident, was traveling southbound on Route 286. While making a left turn onto Holiday Park Drive, the Durango drove into the path of a Dodge Stratus—carrying three adults and two children from Ford City—that was driving north on Route 286. All occupants of the Stratus—ages 43, 37, 24 12 and 7—were transported to UPMC and Children's Hospital. Their conditions were not known. _______________________ Plum-Oakmont Patch is on Facebook…

An accident was blocking the right lane of the Eastbound turnpike lanes, though it appears to be flowing normally.
An accident has been reported on the Eastbound PA Turnpike near the Oakmont service plaza. According to the turnpike website, an accident occurred near milepost 49 at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in between the Allegheny Valley and Pittsburgh exits (near the Plum-Oakmont area). One car reportedly rolled on its roof. The accident had been blocking the right lane, and motorists should expect delays. Crews responded to the scene at the tracks along Tri-Boro Expressway, no injuries reported.
A tractor trailer and Norfolk Southern train collided about 8:30 p.m. Thursday along a stretch of track across from the U.S. Steel Edgar Thomson Works near the intersection of Main Street and the Tri-Boro Expressway in East Pittsburgh. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the truck driver and a passenger were able to escape before the collision. A train traveling in the opposite direction struck the tractor-trailer, wedging the wreckage between the two trains, the Trib reported. Emergency crews reported that more than 126 gallons of diesel fuel were leaking at the scene of the fiery crash. An accident that occurred on the turnpike in Plum just before 5 a.m. closed all westbound lanes after a fuel spill but all lanes are open now.
The westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike between Monroeville and Allegheny Valley has reopened after an accident involving a tractor-trailer occured early Thursday morning. At around 4:40 p.m., state police responded to mile marker 49 in Plum Borough after the driver of the tractor-trailer rolled over and blocked both lanes of traffic. According to a 9:32 a.m. update from the PA Turnpike Commission, all traffic must exit the turnpike at the Pittsburgh/Monroeville exit at this time. A previous update just before 7:30 a.m. said only the right lane was blocked. A nine-year-old who sustained injuries in a Penn Hills car accident that killed his mother earlier this month is expected to undergo surgery. Children's Hospital released a statement Thursday on behalf of the boy's father, William Beilstein, saying that his son Justin is expected to undergo surgery for a broken femur. According to the statement, William Beilstein wanted to clarify earlier reports of his son's condition after the May 12 accident. Beilstein said he would not be interviewed about the matter. A funeral was held last week for Christine Beilstein, 45, who died in the accident.

A 24-year-old woman was killed Sunday in a jet ski accident at the Dashields Lock and Dam across the river from Edgeworth and Sewickley.
With National Safe Boating Week underway, authorities are stressing caution after a jet ski accident on the Ohio River Sunday left one dead and another injured. Melissa Mason, 24, of Aliquippa and Kevin Ludwig, 26, of Robinson Township were both rushed to Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday. They had ridden a jet ski over a 10-foot dam and were sucked into the current. Ludwig was treated and released before 7 p.m. while Mason was pronounced dead at a Pittsburgh hospital, according to Lawrence P. Christine Beilstein, 45, of the Regency Park neighborhood in Plum Borough, died tragically on Saturday, May 12, after a car accident in Penn Hills. According to her obituary, Beilstein was the cherished mother of Jacob and Justin Beilstein; the beloved daughter of John and Patricia Konop; and sister of Debbie (Carl) Solko, John Konop, and Patricia (Anthony) LaMorte. Beilstein also is survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, a great nephew and loving fiance, Ricky Kirchartz. A Plum woman has died and her son was injured after a head-on collision on Milltown Road in Penn Hills Saturday. Just after 1 p.m., a tow truck driven by Duane Charles Woodson of Point Breeze crossed the center line on the road and crashed into a car. The driver of the car, Christine Beilstein, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the county medical examiner's office. Her 9-year-old son was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
