Many of you might already be done with your holiday shopping. Still others might be waiting for even better deals that sometimes pop up prior to Christmas. But how does your spending compare to prior holiday seasons? Those who have lost jobs due to the economy, who feel their jobs might be threatened or who have suffered other setbacks might be a little tighter with the purse strings than someone who just got that promotion. Black Friday: Shopping Tips & Mall Hours

From parking, to planning ahead, to protecting your new purchases—how to make the most of Black Friday.

'Tis the season to shop, shop, shop. Black Friday actually begins on Thanksgiving night at several of the big retailers. So how can you make sure you get the most out of this most intense of shopping seasons? Plan Ahead Know which stores or malls you're going to hit first? Plan ahead! All local malls will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The Monroeville Mall in Monroeville will open on Black Friday from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Macy's, however, will be open at midnight and close at 10 p.m. All stores at the Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer Township will be opening between midnight and 6 a.m. on Black Friday. Early Birds Flock to Black Friday Sales

Excitement, experience and sales draw shoppers to South Hills Village.

Linda Book arrived at South Hills Village at 3:30 a.m. with a plan. By 4:45 a.m., she had the shopping bags to prove her plan was working. “We’re here to get the best buys of the season,” Book said. “(The stores) have regular sales, which is great, but we want the really good ones.” She and her nieces, Maria and Amanda, all of Whitehall, admitted that Black Friday shopping is a little crazy. But it’s also fun, they said. It’s a challenge to get the best deals – and they insisted it’s well worth it. The family was pretty pleased with the sales they found, mainly at clothing stores.
