The deal at Home Depot runs through Wednesday.
A number of Plum-Oakmont residents took advantage of the weekend's warm weather and put up their holiday light displays. But did any of you find broken light sets while you were getting into the Christmas spirit? You may want to know about the deal Home Depot has going on through Wednesday, Nov. 14. Customers can bring in their old working or non-working Christmas light strings to be recycled and receive coupons from $3 to $5 off the purchase of energy efficient seasonal LED string lights. The Home Depot stores closest to Plum, Oakmont and Verona are the ones in East Liberty—400 North Highland Ave.—and in Wilkins Township—3550 William Penn Highway (Route 22). Patch.com is launching a nationwide contest to find the best dressed home in its Patch communities, and the winner’s school district will receive $100,000, no strings attached. Here’s how the contest works. Today through Dec. 26, you can nominate your home by uploading a photo to the contest entry form on the site. During that same time period you and your neighbors will be able to vote for your favorite festive home. The winning entry will be forwarded to a national Patch judge who will select 24 finalists. Each finalist will receive $500 that they can apply to their December electric bill. From Dec. 30 through Jan. 8 you will be able to vote for the Best Decked House in all of Patch.
