Here are the Plum police reports for April 16 to April 23.
A Plum residents reported several heavy items stolen from a shed last week. Plum police were called to Logans Ferry Road on April 15 for a theft report. According to police, someone cut the lock to a shed door and stole three pieces of equipment—a hand lift, an earth mover blade and a landscaping rake. The theft occurred between April 12 and 15. The following incidents also were reported to the Plum Police Department. Information was obtained from police reports. Fraud Police are investigating a case of possible fraud. Theft Eric Matthew Sundberg, 28, of New Kensington was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, carrying a firearm without a license and person not to possess a firearm; and Mark Andrew Uhler, 42, of Arnold was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy after a Feb. 26 incident on Leechburg Road. Theft Sarah Dawn Vercauteren, 24, of Monroeville was charged with theft. She is accused of stealing $159.50 from a drawer at the Burger King on Route 286 before she quit her job there. A 2001 Brush Bandit, a trailer-type wood chipper, was reported stolen from a Davidson Road business on Nov. 14. A Penn Hills resident reported a trampoline stolen from the Self Storage on Route 909 on Sept. 17. The following incidents were reported to the Plum Police Department. Information was obtained from police reports and call logs. DUI Jason Robert Wunderlich, 28, of Homestead was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after an Oct. 13 accident on Saltsburg Road. According to the police report, Wunderlich crashed his vehicle into a Duquesne Light pole. Fraud A Plum woman reported that she came across a scam post for a Penn Hills home for rent on Craigslist. The woman reported on Oct. 16 that she wired almost $2,000 to an unknown person in order to rent a home at 345 Stoneledge Drive. Others also have reported the same scam to police. The incident …

Residents in one Pittsburgh neighborhood reported that solicitors were going door-to-door asking for account numbers on Duquesne Light bills.
Pittsburgh police are warning area residents to be careful when opening their doors to solicitors, even if those people are wearing official-looking clothing or logos. In her post on the Pittsburgh Police Community Safety website Tuesday, Officer Janine Davis said she received an email from a Lawrenceville resident stating that people from a company called Just Energy were going door to door, asking to see residents' Duquesne Light electric bills. Residents were told that their home address and Duquesne Light account number were needed to ensure that they received a rebate from the Duquesne Light company, according to the report on the community safety website. Louis Lamanna, 46, of Oakmont has pleaded guilty to three counts of willful failure to pay income taxes on Monday.
A builder from Oakmont has pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges after being accused of borrowing money to pay taxes and using it on "luxury cars," according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. On Monday, Louis Lamanna, 46, pleaded guilty to three counts of willful failure to pay income taxes. According to the Post-Gazette, Lamanna owed the Internal Revenue Service more than $600,000 in back taxes. He told agents he took out a loan to pay the debt, and then spent the money on "luxury" items. Lamanna could face more than two years in prison, have to pay the money he owes, as well as a $300,000 fine. An Oakmont resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of evasion of tax payment bankruptcy fraud, and money laundering. According to the indictment presented to the court, Louis Lamanna evaded the payment of his tax liabilities by spending more than $1 million while his tax liability was due and owing; by failing to report income to the Internal Revenue Service on the timely basis; and by transferring assets into a nominee bank account. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of thirty years in prison, a fine of $1 million or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of Lamanna. …
