Interesting this is this week's spotlight. Our Feline was treated here, with symptoms of Diabetes. We made an apt, and went in. The Doctor, (Dr. J) was very nice, professional, knowledgeable. He gently gave our feline a complete head to toes exam, checking for all sorts of stuff, explaining as he went. He ordered some tests to confirm it was diabetes, and after those returned, ordered a dosage of…   more ›

Drainage Work Continues on Route 286 in Plum, Monroeville

You might experience some road restrictions due to this work.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crews will continue to perform drainage work on a Plum highway this week. Drainage improvement work is scheduled to occur on Route 286 in Plum/Monroeville through Friday, Feb. 15, between the Westmoreland County line and Route 22. Route 286 Crack Sealing Begins Thursday in Plum and Monroeville

Lane closures will occur in both directions, so motorists should be aware.

If you're heading down Route 286 over the next few days, take notes! Crack and joint sealing operations on Route 286 (Golden Mile Highway) in will begin on Thursday, Oct. 25, weather permitting.  Work will occur between Route 22 in Monroeville and Hialeah Drive in Plum Borough. Short-term, slow-moving lane closures will occur in both directions at various locations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday, Nov. 1. Crack and joint sealing is a preservation activity that prolongs the life of road surfaces by preventing moisture from entering cracks and joints, according to PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi. Plum McDonald's to Relocate on Route 286

The Plum Planning Commission approved a site plan for the new McDonald's location.

McDonald's restaurant in Plum Borough is one step closer to relocating one mile down the road from its current Route 286 location. On Monday, the Plum Borough Planning Commission approved a site plan for McDonald's at 1865 Route 286, at the New Texas Road intersection where the former Prestige Motors used to be. The restaurant currently is located on Route 286 just past Presque Isle Drive. Mark Mox of McIlvried, Didiano & Mox—the consulting, engineering and surveying firm working on the McDonald's project—said he wasn't sure what would happen to the existing McDonald's location. East Suburban YMCA Breaks Ground on New Sampson Family Y

The $11 million project will pretty much double the size of the current YMCA facility along Route 286 in Plum.

The Plum community gathered at the East Suburban YMCA along Golden Mile Highway Tuesday morning for what could be called a momentous event. Members of the community, government officials and YMCA staff—along with some little helpers in hard hats—celebrated a ground breaking for the new Sampson Family Y, an $11 million expansion project that will double the size of the current YMCA facility in Plum. "A lot of people have been waiting a long time for this expansion to occur," said Larry Stormer, executive director of the East Suburban YMCA. "This is such a special day." Five Injured After Accident in Plum

Three adults and two children were taken to hospitals late Sunday night.

Five people were injured after a late-night accident Sunday along Route 286 in Plum. According to an accident report filed by the Plum Police Department, the two-vehicle accident occurred at the Route286/Holiday Park Drive intersection just before 11 p.m. on Sunday. A Dodge Durango, driven by a 17-year-old Plum resident, was traveling southbound on Route 286. While making a left turn onto Holiday Park Drive, the Durango drove into the path of a Dodge Stratus—carrying three adults and two children from Ford City—that was driving north on Route 286. All occupants of the Stratus—ages 43, 37, 24 12 and 7—were transported to UPMC and Children's Hospital. Their conditions were not known. _______________________ Plum-Oakmont Patch is on Facebook…
