After months without one, Oakmont borough may be getting a new borough manager.
President Timothy Milberger’s announcement that Oakmont Council would extend the position of borough manager to Lisa Cooper Jensen was followed by a round of applause at Monday night’s borough council meeting. The council announced the decision following a private 20 minute long executive session, however, the process of finding a new borough manager has been ongoing for months. In June, the council decided the hiring criteria for the position after reviewing the existing job description and decided to keep the search internal. After that decision was made, Milberger said council decided unanimously to consider Jensen for the position. Jensen has been acting borough manager since Bruce Jamison resigned in April. The school board is looking to hire a principal before the start of the school year.
Regency Park Elementary School will get yet another principal beginning next school year. Effective July 1, the combined position of Special Education/Regency Park Principal was eliminated and two positions—Director of Special Education and Pupil Services and Principal of Regency Park Elementary School—were created. Kathleen Shirey, who the board hired last year for the combined position, now will act solely as the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services. Shirey was the third person acting as the Regency principal since last September, when Cheryl Levin retired. Margaret Evans also served as an interim in between Levin and Shirey. Oakmont Borough Council President Tim Milberger announced council will interview acting borough manager Lisa Cooper Jensen for the permanent position.
Lisa Cooper Jensen, who has been serving as acting borough manager since Bruce Jamison vacated the position in April, will be interviewed soon for consideration as the permanent borough manager of Oakmont, Council President Tim Milberger said at Monday’s council meeting. “Ms. Jensen is a strong candidate,” Milberger said. “It was a unanimous decision by council to proceed and take her through the hiring process for the position.” According to Milberger, Jensen has 25 years experience working with the borough.
