Pink Sale: Home Instead Hosts 2nd Annual Yard Sale

The sale runs Friday and Saturday.

The blue house is once again having a huge pink sale.  Home Instead Senior Care is hosting its annual yard sale on Friday and Saturday in Oakmont to help raise money for breast cancer research. The second annual Yard Sale for Breast Cancer will have lots of items from many, many families, including household items, books, baby and kid items, decorations and small appliances. The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the senior care facility at 661 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Home Instead Senior Care Collecting Donations for 2nd Annual Yard Sale

The public is invited to donate unwanted items to the Yard Sale for Breast Cancer.

Home Instead Senior Care in Oakmont is currently collecting donations for the second annual Yard Sale for Breast Cancer. For anyone spring cleaning, Kathy Milberger, human resource director, suggests bringing your unwanted items to the Home Instead Senior Care office at 661 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or call 412-517-8337 to make other arrangements.  The yard sale is Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 and benefits breast cancer research. "This disease has directly affected our office as well as the over 200 caregivers we employ," Milberger said. Dementia Education Class Set for Next Week

Home Instead Senior Care is offering a free class.

Home Instead Senior Care in Oakmont is offering a free Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias Education Class next week. The class—to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27—combines three workshops that examine dementia and its symptoms from a medical perspective, then share ways to manage the behaviors of someone suffering from dementia, and how to effectively engage with a dementia patient. The workshops are the product of a panel of Alzheimer’s/dementia experts convened by the Home Instead Senior Care network, including UPMC Dr. Erik Rodriguez, who practices geriatric medicine at the Benedum Center. The Search is on for State’s Outstanding Senior Volunteers

Home Instead Senior Care, which has an office in Oakmont, is seeking nominations.

Home Instead Senior Care, which has an office in Oakmont, is seeking nominations for the Salute to Senior Service program to honor senior volunteers for the tireless contributions they make to their local communities. The program will include a search for the most outstanding senior volunteer in each state and culminate with the selection of a national Salute to Senior Service winner during Older Americans Month in May. Nominees must be 65 years of age or older and volunteer at least 15 hours a month. Nominations will be accepted at www.SalutetoSeniorService.com through March 15. The annual Caregiver Recognition event at Riverside Landing in Oakmont brought together more than 150 people to celebrate a year of caring.
