A family from Stonehaven Court is thanking local fire departments after a fire destroyed a home last week.
Dear Editor, I am writing you on behalf of my parents Dom and Pam Ricciuti, and my brother, Johnathan. They were victims of the house fire at 50 Stonehaven Court in Plum Borough last Thursday evening. I was hoping that you could extend our sincerest thanks publicly to our family, friends & community for the outreach of support and help that has been offered to our family in this time of need. They are obviously devastated by the fire, but have been so touched by all the support they have been shown. Their neighbors made every effort possible to save their home. One neighbor attempted to put the fire out himself. Many others attempted to call 911. One other neighbor contacted the Renton VFD directly when the 911 system was “to busy” to …

The fire was reported on Woodland Avenue at around 1 a.m. Thursday.
Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department extinguished a fire on Woodland Avenue early Thursday morning. Emergency officials were called to the home at around 1 a.m. According to fire Captain David Carroll, the fire was contained in the residence's kitchen and extinguished quickly. No one was hurt. A Monday evening house fire on Noel Drive was quickly extinguished by Monroeville fire crews.
Dozens of Monroeville firefighters responded to Noel Drive Monday night to battle a house fire. Crews arriving at the scene reported seeing heavy smoke on the block. The fire alarm at 325 Noel Drive was dispatched around 8:20 p.m. and the fire was extinguished by Monroeville fire companies within minutes. At about 9 p.m. two ladders were still leaning against the front of the home and firefighters were packing up their gear. No serious injuries were reported and neighbors said a person living in the home escaped to a neighbors home. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. Check back with the Plum-Oakmont Patch for additional details as they become available.

WPXI-TV is reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson was "badly burned" in a house fire in Seven Fields, Butler County early Friday morning. He was flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital. It was unclear which facility is caring for the coach—Mercy Hospital, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital and UPMC-Presbyterian did not list him as a patient. There is no word on his condition. The Steelers are preparing for their playoff game Sunday afternoon against the Denver Broncos.
