Plum Residents Displaced, Home Condemned After Tree Falls

Three Jackson Road residents have been displaced after a tree fell on their home Wednesday night.

A home on Jackson Road has been condemned after a tree fell on it Wednesday night. Ira Helfer, president of the Unity Volunteer Fire Department, said firefighters were called to the Jackson Road home just after 11 p.m. Helfer said an old, large tree fell on the house. He said he isn't sure if the tree's age or the weather caused it to fall. Three residents were displaced, and firefighters arranged for the Red Cross to help them. Jason Straley, Plum Borough planning director, said the house sustained major damage in the back, and it has been condemned. Tree removal crews were on site Thursday morning pulling branches off of the house. _______________________ Plum-Oakmont Patch is on Facebook and on Twitter. Don't forget to sign up for …
