'Les Miserables' & 'Casablanca' Play at The Oaks

Here are the movie showtimes for Feb. 8 to 14.

Here is a list of movies playing at the Oaks Theater in Oakmont from Friday, Feb. 8, to Thursday, Feb. 14. The theater is at 310 Allegheny River Blvd. For more information, call 412-828-6322. The cost is $8 general admission after 6 p.m. Matinees cost $6. General admission for senior citizens, students and youths is $6. Ballet in Cinema tickets cost $15 for general admission and $12 for senior citizen, student and youth tickets. CineBrunch on Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with a light brunch provided by Oakmont Bakery. A brief introduction to the film is presented by the Oakmont Carnegie Library at 11 and the film screening begins shortly after. Food for the brunch is first come, first serve. You Be the Critic: Who Do You Think Should Win an Oscar?

Have you seen any of the movies up for Academy Awards? Check out our recap of the nominees and then tell us who you think should win.

It’s that time of year again, and by that we mean nominations have been made for Hollywood’s own Super Bowl—the Academy Awards.  This year’s nominees, announced Thursday morning by funnyman Seth MacFarlane and actress Emma Stone, include Lincoln, which had the most nominations at 12, and Les Miserables, which has nine nominations. Surprisingly, there was no best director nod for Ben Affleck for his critically acclaimed film Argo, which is nominated for seven awards, including Best Picture. The movie will compete alongside Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty in that category.
