Oakmont and Verona boroughs kicked off the holiday season on Saturday with a parade and many activities. Children visited with Santa Claus and everyone got into the holiday spirit during the event. Light Up Night Closures, Parking and Detours

Light Up Night in the City of Pittsburgh is Friday, Nov. 16.

Friday is the 52nd annual Light Up Night in the City of Pittsburgh. Although it’s exciting to kick off the holiday festivities, there are a few parking restrictions and road closures to be aware of if you're headed Downtown from the Plum-Oakmont area. Pittsburgh police recommend that visitors use parking garages and surface lots to ensure that visitors aren’t parked in a restricted area. They also want you to be safe while you’re Downtown, and remind visitors to remove valuables from view and keep vehicles locked. Oakmont & Verona Kick Off the Holiday Season Saturday

The annual Christmas celebration and parade will be held Saturday, Nov. 17.

It's time to deck the halls in the Twin Boros this weekend! The Oakmont and Verona chambers of commerce are hosting the annual hometown Christmas celebration and parade on Saturday, Nov. 17. The parade begins at 5 p.m. in Oakmont this year and ends in Verona. Ian Petrella, the actor who plays Randy Parker in A Christmas Story,  will be this year's parade grand marshal. Fans will have an opportunity to meet Petrella after the parade.  Festivities begin at 4 p.m. on Allegheny River Boulevard in Verona and end at 7 p.m. there will be music, food and visits with Santa Claus in Verona.
