Businesses in the area can sign up to participate in the chamber's first-ever showcase.
Businesses in the Plum area will have an opportunity to network with each other and the community. The Plum Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first-ever business showcase on Tuesday, April 16, at Plum High School. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. and will be open to the public. Businesses interested in participating can do so by reserving a table at the event. The cost is $75 for chamber members and $100 for non-members. The deadline to reserve a table is April 5, and space is limited. Contact the chamber office at 412-798-2300 to make a reservation. This week's local business spotlight is the Oaks Theater, located on Allegheny River Boulevard in Oakmont. Since it opened in 1938, the Oaks Theater has been a staple of the community's business district. The theater shows a unique mix of new releases, foreign films and cult classics, and hosts a number of events that cater to community members. When Plum-Oakmont Patch launched a little more than a year ago, editors and contributors ventured to local businesses to collect information for our directory. The result: Patch Places. Patch Places is the spot to find descriptions, hours, accepted payment methods and more for spots around town. You can even see what your neighbors think of a business before you try it or write your own review. But local businesses get extra bonuses when they claim a listing. Owners or managers can sign in and search for their business. Underneath the photos, there is a box with the question: Do you own or manage this location? Claim it! My husband Jerry and I have been dining at Hoffstot's Cafe Monaco since moving to Oakmont 10 years ago.
