Sneak Peek of UPMC East Hospital in Monroeville

The new University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hospital doesn't officially open until July 2, but the public got to take a look at the facility during an open house on Saturday. Here are some photos.

Come July 2, residents of Plum, Oakmont and Verona can seek medical care at the new UPMC East Hospital in Monroeville. The new $250-million hospital, which is located near the Route 22/Route 48 intersection in Monroeville has been in the works for years. Joe Badalich, a Plum resident, was the project director for the hospital's construction and nearby road improvement work. Nearing its official opening date, the hospital opened its doors to the public on Saturday for an open house and sneak peek. Those who attended took a self-guided tour to see the private patient rooms, the emergency department, surgical suites and other hospital departments. A Crazy Mocha coffee shop also is operating out of the hospital and there is a gift shop on site…
