Driver Who Killed Plum Woman Sentenced to Jail

Christine Beilstein of Plum was killed in May after a car accident in Penn Hills.

A Point Breeze man has been sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to several charges stemming from a May 12, 2012, car accident in Penn Hills that killed a Plum woman and injured her young son. Duane Woodson, 51, is facing 5 to 10 years in prison, according to court documents. In October, he pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, aggravated assault by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence with a suspended license, driving with a suspended license, two counts of accidents involving death, two counts of accidents involving death while not being properly licensed, three counts of driving …

Plum Woman Killed, Child Injured in Penn Hills Accident

Christine Beilstein, 45, of Plum was killed in an accident on Saturday. Her son was injured and taken to Children's Hospital.

A Plum woman has died and her son was injured after a head-on collision on Milltown Road in Penn Hills Saturday. Just after 1 p.m., a tow truck driven by Duane Charles Woodson of Point Breeze crossed the center line on the road and crashed into a car. The driver of the car, Christine Beilstein, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the county medical examiner's office. Her 9-year-old son was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, police said the boy was listed in critical condition with severe head trauma. Local Roads Included in PennDOT's Maintenance Schedule This Week

PennDOT announces a roadwork update.

Motorists should be aware of maintenance work occurring this week on Milltown and Coxcomb-Hill roads in Plum, and Shannon Road in Verona/Penn Hills. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced that crack sealing will occur on Milltown Road from Hulton Road to Kerr Road, and on Shannon Road from Hamill Road to Verona Road. Pipe installation also is set to occur on Coxcomb-Hill Road from Hulton Road to Kerr Road. Work will occur from today, Sept. 19, to Friday, Sept. 23. All activities are weather permitting. Lane closures and restrictions should be expected in work areas. Motorists are urged to call 1-800 FIX ROAD to report roadway concerns on state routes and interstates.
