Plum Dancer Performs on 'Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition' Finale

Miranda Maleski and three other Pittsburgh-area dancers took the stage.

Four Pittsburgh-area dancers showcased their talents on national television earlier this week. During Tuesday evening's finale of "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition" on Lifetime TV, Plum native Miranda Maleski—along with dancers John Fiumara, Taylor Ackerman and Jesse Johnson—performed a routine to Blues Saraceno's "If You Believe." The dancers were featured as alumni from the Abby Lee Dance Company, the newly-famed Penn Hills dance studio featured on Lifetime's show, "Dance Moms." Owner Abby Lee Miller went on to be a judge on "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition," a show where young dancers compete for $100,000 and a scholarship to the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York. Maleski currently lives in Los Angeles and was featured on Season 8…

Miranda Maleski Might Have Another Shot with "So You Think You Can Dance"

See how you can help Maleski, a Plum native, dance in the show's tour.

Plum native Miranda Maleski was eliminated from the FOX TV show "So You Think You Can Dance" two-and-a-half weeks ago, but her journey might not be over just yet. Over the weekend, Mary Murphy, one of the show's judges, said on Twitter that some contestants who were eliminated early on—Maleski and her partner Robert Taylor Jr. were the third couple to get the boot—can be chosen to participate in the dance tour as "wild card dancers." Since the post, fans have created twititions—online petitions on Twitter—and have been Tweeting the judges in support of Miranda. To help Miranda become a wild card, they can tweet judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe at @dizzyfeet and Murphy at @HOTtamaleTRAIN. People also can sign the twitition or …

Plum Native Miranda Maleski Says Her TV Experience Was "Unexplainable"

The Plum-Oakmont Patch caught up with the 19-year-old, who made it to the Top 16 on the FOX TV Show "So You Think You Can Dance."

Though Miranda Maleski was voted off the FOX TV show "So You Think You Can Dance" last night, she's proud of her accomplishments. "I did everything I could do, and I am proud of everything I've done on that stage," Maleski told the Plum-Oakmont Patch. "Even after my last solo, I could not have asked for anything more of myself. I'm proud of myself, and I left that way." Plum native Maleski, 19, said she has been watching the show since the first season. Being old enough to compete, she finally auditioned in February, made it through to the Las Vegas auditions in April and was put through to the Top 20 in June. "It's crazy being up there on that stage because you know what it looks like from home," Maleski said. "You know what the viewers …

Plum Native Miranda Maleski Gets the Boot on "So You Think You Can Dance"

Maleski is sent home after being in the bottom three couples for the second time.

Plum native Miranda Maleski's journey on "So You Think You Can Dance" is over. Maleski—a contestant in the Top 20 of the show—and her partner, Robert Taylor Jr., performed a broadway routine to "It Don't Mean a Thing (If it Ain't Got That Swing)" by Sophisticated Ladies on Wednesday night. After America's vote, it was announced on Thursday night's results show that they would be going home. The judges said Maleski has shown the most growth of all the dancers on the show. Before the judges' decision, Maleski—a contemporary dancer—danced a 30-second solo to Maria Zouroudis' "Unthinkable" to fight for her spot on the show. It wasn't enough. She and Taylor were the third couple to go home. Nigel Lythgoe, judge and executive producer of the …
