Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for the Plum-Oakmont Area

The watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Southwestern Pennsylvania, including Allegheny County The watch remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service, which says some storms cound be severe with damaging winds.  The chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected mainly after 5 p.m. and before midnight.  A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect this week, with frosty and potentially freezing conditions possible on Friday and Saturday nights and possibly Sunday.    Here's a look at the forecast: Be sure to upload photos or videos of any severe storm weather or storm damage.

The Pennsylvania primary election is on Tuesday, and there are some contested races in the Plum-Oakmont area. Candidates are seeking their party's nomination to appear on the ballot during the November general election. Familylinks Names Oakmont Resident as New CFO

Jerry Parfitt will provide financial leadership at the nonprofit human services agency.

An Oakmont resident will provide financial leadership for a Pittsburgh-based non-profit agency. Jerry Parfitt has been named the chief financial officer at Familylinks, Inc., a nonprofit human services agency serving a wide range of populations and focused on behavioral, social and developmental health issues. Parfitt has a long history of working on the executive team of local health care and nonprofit organizations and will provide financial leadership for the Banksville Road based organization. He previously served as director of finance at Passavant Memorial Homes and Subsidiaries, where he worked since 2006. Curb Work on Allegheny Avenue Begins Monday

Motorists traveling along Allegheny Avenue in Oakmont next week should be aware of some restrictions. Beginning on Monday, the curb replacement on the business side of the 200 and 700 blocks—from College to California avenues—of the road will occur. There will be lane restrictions.
