A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Southwestern Pennsylvania, including Allegheny County The watch remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service, which says some storms cound be severe with damaging winds. The chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected mainly after 5 p.m. and before midnight. A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect this week, with frosty and potentially freezing conditions possible on Friday and Saturday nights and possibly Sunday. The Pennsylvania primary election is on Tuesday, and there are some contested races in the Plum-Oakmont area. An Oakmont resident will provide financial leadership for a Pittsburgh-based non-profit agency. Jerry Parfitt has been named the chief financial officer at Familylinks, Inc., a nonprofit human services agency serving a wide range of populations and focused on behavioral, social and developmental health issues. Parfitt has a long history of working on the executive team of local health care and nonprofit organizations and will provide financial leadership for the Banksville Road based organization. He previously served as director of finance at Passavant Memorial Homes and Subsidiaries, where he worked since 2006.
