Gibson Packer Buchanan Gibson Packer Buchanan, M.D., of Pittsburgh, beloved husband of Alice Reed Buchanan, died peacefully on February 2, 2013, at the age of 92. Gibson was born April 15, 1920, the son of Charity Packer and John Grier Buchanan and brother of the late John G. Buchanan Jr. and the late James J. Buchanan. Raised in Pittsburgh, he was a graduate of Shady Side Academy (1937), Princeton University (1941) and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1944). He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Following an internship at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, he completed his residency at Babies and Children’s Hospital of New York, before returning to Pittsburgh to establish a private practice …
