Plum police are investigating after a vacant home on Greensburg Road was burglarized earlier this month. On May 10, the former resident reported that someone had stolen many items from the home, which he still checks. A stove, TV, video game console, video games, a washer, a grill, an air conditioner, a bike, tools, a computer, money and copper piping were reported stolen. A Penn Hills man has been charged with forgery after being accused of trying to get a fake prescription filled at an Oakmont pharmacy. Oakmont police charged Ronell S. Gray, 25, of Penn Hills with forgery, possession of a controlled substance and prohibited acts. He is accused of trying to fill a fake prescription at the Medicine Shoppe in Oakmont in April. The following incidents were reported to the Plum Police Department: Theft Eric Douglas Dancu, 27, of Plum was charged with theft and receiving stolen property on April 4 after being accused of stealing $2,000 from his father. A Beech Road resident reported fishing rods and tackle boxes were stolen from an unlocked shed sometime between July 2012 and this month. The Verona Police Department is investigating a late-night shooting that injured one person a little over a week ago. On April 27 at about 3:43 a.m. police were called to the Marina Pub on Arch Street after reports that a man had been shot. According to police, a 22-year-old had a gunshot wound in his leg. He told police he was leaving the bar with a friend when a black man in a black hooded sweatshirt sprayed him with pepper spray. According to the report, the suspect then shot the man in the leg and ran off. He has not been identified, and county police have taken over the investigation. A Wilkinsburg man is facing several charges after leading police on a car chase that ended with an accident. Plum police have charged Bryan Louis Johnson Jr., 35, with receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, unauthorized use of registration, driving with a suspended license, speeding and four stop sign violations. According to the police report, officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Saltsburg Road when Johnson, the driver of the vehicle, took off. Two men have been accused of stealing a bicycle from outside a Plum grocery store. Plum police have charged Ryan Turner Labovick, 20, of Plum; and Thomas Steven Sisco Jr., 20, of Mt. Oliver with receiving stolen property. Labovick also was charged with theft. The men are accused of stealing a bicycle that was parked outside of the Holiday Park Shop'n Save along Route 286 on March 4. The following incidents also were reported to the Plum Police Department. A Plum man is facing several charges after being accused of hitting a teenager on his bicycle with his car. On April 2, police were called to Unity Center Road near College Avenue after reports of a bicyclist being hit by a motorist. A 15-year-old on a bicycle sustained face, shoulder and ankle injuries and was taken to Children's Hospital for treatment. The motorist, Dominic Anthony Tavella, 23, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, prohibited acts, accidents involving injuries, driving with a suspended license, registration required and required financial responsibility. Here are the Verona police reports from February through March 13.
A man has been charged with theft after being accused of stealing from vehicles in Verona. Verona police have charged Brandon Noel, 26, of Penn Hills with receiving stolen property. According to police Chief Ron McLemore, police received five complaints of thefts from motor vehicles on Feb. 27. All vehicles were unlocked, and Noel is accused of stealing items such as eyeglasses and GPS overnight. Noel was arrested on March 13 and currently is being held at the Allegheny County Jail. McLemore asks that all residents lock their vehicles and report any suspicious activity to police.
