The rink at the Oakmont park is expected to be located on the upper field (where the baseball field closest to the park and parallel to Riverview High School currently sits). The baseball field will be shifted toward the center of the field to make room for the dek hockey rink. Now, officials …

Name Chosen for New Oakmont Park

The new recreation space will be located along Dark Hollow Road.

A future recreation space along Dark Hollow Road soon will have a designated name. On Monday, Oakmont Council is expected to approve the name Creekside Park for the new area. The creation of the area is part of a settlement between the borough and Kacin Co. The developer is responsible for creating the recreation space because its Edgewater at Oakmont housing plan doesn't contain recreation space, per zoning regulations. Oakmont Recreation Board member Tom Bland said members liked the Creekside Park name because it goes hand-in-hand with Riverside Park, the main park in the borough. Another option was Creekside Sports Park, but the rec board and council favored the first option. Creekside Park is expected to have a gravel parking lot, …

Here's a look at items discussed at Oakmont Council's workshop meeting last week. The regular voting meeting will be held tonight, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. at the borough building. Riverside Park Hours The Oakmont Recreation Board recommended to council that the gates to Riverside Park remain open at all times to accommodate joggers at all hours. Currently, the park is open from dawn until dusk. Councilwoman Laurie Saxon said rec board members suggested the change to accommodate people who can't make it to the park during the light hours. Mayor Robert Fescemyer said that would create a problem for police officers. "We write a lot of citations in that park at night," he said. Councilwoman Nancy Ride agreed. "There would be no way to make kids …
