Light Up Night Closures, Parking and Detours

Light Up Night in the City of Pittsburgh is Friday, Nov. 16.

Friday is the 52nd annual Light Up Night in the City of Pittsburgh. Although it’s exciting to kick off the holiday festivities, there are a few parking restrictions and road closures to be aware of if you're headed Downtown from the Plum-Oakmont area. Pittsburgh police recommend that visitors use parking garages and surface lots to ensure that visitors aren’t parked in a restricted area. They also want you to be safe while you’re Downtown, and remind visitors to remove valuables from view and keep vehicles locked. Westbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel Single Lane Traffic Schedule Change

Work to begin one hour earlier.

Work to rehabilitate the Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East will begin at 9 p.m. nightly from now on. The previous schedule had work and single lane restrictions beginning at 10 p.m. Overnight restrictions will occur according to the following schedule through July 13.     No work or restrictions will occur July 2-4. The extra hour is needed to allow the contractor to maximize work hours in preparation for upcoming weekend closures.    PennDOT also reminds motorists the first of eight full westbound weekend closures requiring detours will occur the weekend of July 27 to 30. A separate release with detour information will be issued in early July. The closures will continue through late fall and will be scheduled to minimize impacts on…
