Work to paint/stain the bridge that carries the outbound (eastbound) Parkway East over Business Route 22 in Monroeville, will begin weather permitting on Thursday, March 22. To allow the work, short-term restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through late May in the bridge area. Single lane closures will occur on westbound Business Route 22 and brief, intermittent traffic stoppages of five minutes or less will occur on eastbound Business Route 22. Traffic on the Parkway East will not be affected by this work. Please use caution and be prepared for changing traffic patterns. Short-term single lane and shoulder closures will occur on Route 28 in Pittsburgh and Route 22 in Monroeville beginning Monday. Route 28 Short-term single lane and shoulder closures will occur in several locations on Route 28 on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 27 and 28, weather permitting. Restrictions will occur in both directions as needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between the Millvale (Exit 3) and Millerstown (Exit 16) interchanges. The brief lane closures and restrictions are necessary as contractor crews conduct guide rail repairs. All exits and ramps will remain open. The outbound (eastbound) Parkway East (I-376) will be reduced to single lane in Monroeville on Thursday, Dec. 1, weather permitting. Crews will be placing a deck on the new bridge that carries the outbound Parkway East over Business Route 22 between the Monroeville off-ramp (Exit 84A) and the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Exit 85). Restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec 2. Motorists are advised to use caution, expect delays, and be prepared for changing traffic patterns. Motorists also can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions and cameras on major roadways before traveling.

Work to install Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) facilities on Route 22 in Monroeville will continue through Dec. 16 weather permitting. Westbound lane and shoulder closures will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays on westbound Route 22 between Old William Penn Highway and Elliot Road. Bruce and Merrilees Electric Company will be performing the work, which includes the installation of a new message board and a traffic monitoring camera. Motorists should use caution and expect changing patterns when traveling through the area. PennDOT District 11 is announcing Business Route 22 will be closed in both directions on Saturday night, Oct. 22, in the area under the outbound Parkway East (I-376) in Monroeville, weather permitting. The closure will occur from 11 p.m. on Saturday to 8 a.m. on Sunday to allow crews to place beams for the new bridge that will carry the outbound Parkway East over Business Route 22. Note: A closure might also occur Sunday night, Oct. 23, if inclement weather prevents completion of the work Saturday. Signs will be posted to guide motorists during the overnight closure.
