Here's a traffic update for those who travel on Route 28.
Traffic on southbound (inbound) Route 28 in Pittsburgh and Millvale will be reduced to a single lane this weekend, March 8 to 11, weather permitting. Crews will continue work along the southbound lanes including new utility connections. Single lane traffic will occur from 8 p.m. on Friday (tonight) continuously through 5 a.m. on Monday between the 40th Street Bridge and East Ohio Street. Here's a traffic update from PennDOT.
Traffic on southbound (inbound) Route 28 in the City of Pittsburgh will continue to be reduced to a single through Thursday night, Dec. 6, weather permitting. Restrictions will occur as needed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night between the 31th Street Bridge and East Ohio Street exit. Crews will perform utility work. The work is part of the $36.4 million Route 28 Phase IV improvement project. The prime contractor is the Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh. Overall work will conclude in fall 2014. Motorists are advised to use caution and allow extra time when traveling on Route 28. Here's a traffic update from PennDOT.
There will be restrictions on Route 28 and at the Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East this week. Here's more information about each: Route 28 Overnight single lane closures and a traffic shift on southbound Route 28 between former Millvale Industrial Park location and East Ohio Street will occur this week, Nov. 27 to 30, weather permitting. Overnight single lane closures will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Friday nights. Crews will continue excavation and retaining wall construction along a southbound Route 28. Here's a traffic update.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be working on two sections of Route 28 through Friday, Nov. 16. Bridge Inspection in Etna Bridge inspection activities on southbound Route 28 at the Route 8 Etna Interchange in Allegheny County will occur on Thursday, Nov. 15, weather permitting. Southbound lane closures will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday. PennDOT’s Bridge Inspection Team will conduct the work. Alpha Drive Bridge Work to mill and resurface the deck on the bridge that carries Alpha Drive over Route 28 n O’Hara will occur through Friday, weather permitting. PennDOT’s Allegheny County bridge maintenance unit is performing the work. Alpha Drive will be closed through approximately 5 p.m. on Friday. …

Here's a traffic update.
Traffic in both directions on Route 28 in Harmar Township will be stopped briefly on Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, weather permitting. One stoppage of approximately five minutes will occur around 10 a.m. near the Russellton/Little Deer Creek Road (Route 1015) overpass north of the Harmar/Route 910 interchange. Crews under contract with Comcast will be removing an overhead line. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect to stop when traveling through the area. Here's a look at all the work going on along Route 28.
It's no question that Route 28 is undergoing a lot of work. The work is part of $3.5 million project that includes bridge deck, bearing and expansion dam replacements, structural steel painting, substructure concrete repairs, milling and resurfacing, barrier and drainage upgrades and other improvements on Route 28 at the Millvale interchange. Overall work will conclude in the fall. This weekend is going to be filled with road construction.
Work to resurface northbound Route 28 through the Millvale Interchange in Millvale will begin on tonight weather permitting. Work will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday through Saturday nights, Oct. 11-13. Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and possible stop conditions. Alternate routes should be considered. In addition, the ramp from Millvale to northbound Route 28 will be closed during the same timeframe Thursday night. Here's a look at where PennDOT road crews will be working this week.
A Plum road will be patched and a portion of route 28 will be closed nightly this week. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, road crews will be working in Plum, patching Leechburg Road from Sardis Road to Kerr Road. Work will occur Tuesday through Friday, Oct. 9 to 12. Southbound Route 28 also will be closed at the Millvale Interchange (Exit 3) in Millvale Monday through Wednesday nights, Oct. 8 to 10. Here's a look at where PennDOT road crews will be this week. Work will occur in the Plum-Oakmont area, on the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and on Route 28.
