Oakmont Police Enforce Turning Restrictions

Police have increased patrols at Wade Lane and Advance Way.

Oakmont police are urging motorists to follow traffic rules when is comes to turning restrictions. Police Chief David DiSanti said officers have stepped up patrols in the areas of Wade Lane and Advance Way. Motorists are prohibited to make a right turn onto Wade Lane from Hulton Road, and DiSanti said officers have been issuing citations in the area for those who don't obey the traffic law. "It's a danger to the children in the area and causes congestion at the traffic light," he said. Officers also are enforcing no left turns from Advance Way onto Allegheny Avenue. Borough council approved a 60-day trial last month, and signs already have been installed, DiSanti said. The trial ends Jan. 27. _____________________ Plum-Oakmont Patch is on…

Verona Officials Hope to Halt Speeders on Allegheny River Boulevard

Plans to increase police presence along stretch of Allegheny River Boulevard are underway.

Verona officials are hoping to slow down traffic on the borough's section of Allegheny River Boulevard, and they expect police to take measures to do so soon. The area has a posted 25 mile-per-hour speed limit. Many drivers, according to officials, drive much faster than that. “I can’t even get their license plate, that’s how fast they’re going,” council President Sandy Drabicki-Bell said. “They’re flying through the red light at Center Avenue and the boulevard.” The speeding has caused a number of accidents in the past, officials said. Council discussed several measures at its August regular meeting Tuesday night. Among the possibilities are increasing the visibility of one of two existing speed limit signs, posting additional, larger …
