Annual Veterans Day Ceremony Held at Oakmont-Verona Cemetery

Redeemer Lutheran School in Oakmont honored veterans with a ceremony and parade on Monday.

Veterans were honored by students and faculty of Redeemer Lutheran School on Monday. The school's annual Veterans Day parade and ceremony began in the morning, when students, faculty, the community and veterans marched from the school to the Oakmont-Verona Cemetery. A service was held, and students thanked the veterans for their service to the country with songs, written passages and poems. Veterans Day was on Sunday, Nov. 11. Celebrate Veterans Day With Some Freebies & Events

There are several things going on in the community to thank veterans.

There are many ways to celebrate Veterans Day in the community this year. Veterans Day is on Sunday, Nov. 11. Here's a look at some freebies for vets and some events in the area. Oakmont Carnegie Library The Oakmont Carnegie Library will celebrate our servicemen and women this Veterans Day weekend. There will be displays throughout the library about services for veterans and their families and information about Oakmont's military history. A moment of silence also will be observed at 2 p.m. Sunday around the flag on the front lawn. The public is invited to attend. Exhale Yoga In honor of Veterans Day, Exhale Yoga in Oakmont will hold a special donation class on Sunday at 11 a.m. This class will be free, but those attending are asked to give…

Veterans Honored by Redeemer Lutheran School

Students at Redeemer Lutheran School in Oakmont visited the Oakmont-Verona Cemetery for a Veterans Day ceremony.

Military veterans were honored by the students of Redeemer Lutheran School in Oakmont on Friday. Students, faculty and veterans marched from the Pennsylvania Avenue school to the Oakmont-Verona Cemetery a few blocks away, where they all participated in a ceremony. Students read essays and recited poems thanking veterans for their service to the country. Leading the ceremony was led by the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Naumann, pastor of Redeemer. The Rev. Herbert Schumm, a veteran and pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Preschool in Millvale, said a few words during the ceremony.

Allegheny County has compiled a list of special offers from area businesses and some travel destinations to honor those who have served our country.

Allegheny County Veterans Services has compiled a list of special offers and discounts available to veteran in honor of Veterans Day. Outback Steakhouse is honoring America’s military veterans and those in active duty by offering a free Bloomin’ Onion and a Coca-Cola product Tuesday, Nov. 8 through Friday, Nov. 11. This offer is available to military personnel who have one of the following forms of identifications: U.S Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), DD form 214 Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW), Photograph in Uniform, Wearing Uniform. Redeemer Lutheran School in Oakmont to Honor Veterans

The school will hold a parade on Veterans Day.

Redeemer Lutheran School in Oakmont will hold its annual Veterans Day parade on Friday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. The school will be honoring the men and women who have served in the military to defend the country. The parade will begin at 1261 Pennsylvania Ave. and a ceremony will follow at the Oakmont-Verona Cemetery. All veterans and those currently serving in the military will be honored at the ceremony. The community is invited to attend, and all members of the military can wear their uniforms. Cookies and hot cocoa will be served at the school after the service, where Christmas stockings will be filled for those on active duty. Anyone wishing to attend should call 412-793-5884.
