Council discussed several items during its regular meeting on Wednesday. Here's a roundup: The Highlands Officials OK'd the final phase of the Highlands housing development along Old Leechburg Road. Traffic Calming, Municipal Authority & More to Be Discussed by Plum Council

Due to the Columbus Day holiday, the Plum Council voting meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Here's a roundup of items that will be discussed by Plum Council on Wednesday: Traffic Calming Motorists in Plum soon won't be able to make turns onto Trestle Road from Monroeville-Trestle Road during rush hour. Plum Council is expected to pass an ordinance prohibiting turns onto the road from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Fridays. The action will be taken in an effort to prevent speeding on the neighborhood road. The Highlands Officials also are expected to approve a the final phase of the Highlands housing development. Plum Council Awards Construction Contracts for New Public Works Facility

Contracts for work on the facility total $7.1 million. Work is slated to begin over the summer.

Plans for a new public works facility in Plum Borough will come to fruition this summer. On Monday, council awarded $7.1 million worth of contracts for the construction and relocation of the public works department from New Texas Road to borough property located between Renton Road and Old Leechburg Road. The work is part of Phase One of the Plum Borough Municipal Center project. The project includes the construction of a public works building, a facility to store winter salt and storage space. The contracts awarded are as follows: The total amount budgeted for the project—$8.7 million—includes a $700,000 contingency fund in case of an emergency or unexpected costs, and $1 million for fees and services.
