Here's a roadwork update.
Several roadwork projects will be occurring in Plum, Oakmont and Verona through Friday, June 15. Here's a look at some of the projects: Seal Coating Preventative seal coat maintenance work to preserve the life of pavement surfaces continues in the area, weather permitting. Signs will be posted in advance of work being performed. Motorists are asked to drive slowly over recently treated roadways. Work will occur on: Bridge Cleaning Bridge cleaning has been scheduled in Plum and Verona. PennDOT has scheduled bridge cleaning in Plum and Verona through Friday, June 8. The work will occur in the following locations: PennDOT advises motorists to use caution, slow down and anticipate changing traffic patterns, lane closures and possible delays when traveling through the area. Motorists also can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions and cameras on major roadways before traveling. All activities are weather permitting. Lane closures and restrictions should be expected in work areas. Motorists are urged to call 1-800 FIX ROAD to report roadway concerns on state routes and interstates. Here's an update of road work in the area.
There's going to be a lot of roadwork going on in the Plum-Oakmont and surrounding areas next week. Here's a look at some of the work occuring Monday, May 21, to Friday, May 25: Seal Coat Maintenance—Crews will be sealing ("tar and chips") local roads next week. Those roads include Poketa/Hulton Road in the Verona/Penn Hills area from Verona Road to Milltown Road; Shannon Road in the Verona/Penn Hills area from Hamill Road to Second Avenue; Hunter Road near the Verona/Oakmont/Penn Hills border from Allegheny River Boulevard to Hamill Road; and Saltsburg Road from the Westmoreland County line, through Plum, and to Frankstown Road in Penn Hills. Traffic on the Hulton Bridge, which carries Hulton Road over the Allegheny River in Harmar Township and Oakmont, will be reduced to a single lane alternating use weeknights beginning on Sunday, Nov. 27, weather permitting. Crews from Michael Facchiano Contracting, Inc. of Pittsburgh, PA, will be cleaning the bridge. Restrictions will occur from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed Sunday to Thursday nights through Dec. 8. Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area.
