Work begins on March 18, and the bridge is expected to close in April.
Work on a $1.2 million project to improve the bridge that carries Plum Street over Plum Creek in Oakmont and Verona will begin on Monday, March 18, weather permitting. The project includes replacing the bridge deck, strip seal dams, sidewalk and parapets, substructure repairs, spot/zone painting, milling and overlay the approaches and other improvements. Short-term traffic restrictions will begin on Monday in the bridge area east Allegheny River Boulevard near the intersection with Dark Hollow Road. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane alternating use from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays as needed through the end of March. The new bridge that carries Hulton Road over Plum Creek in Plum and Penn Hills will open to traffic weather permitting on Thursday, June 7. The bridge is expected to open by early evening Thursday. Hulton Road has been closed since early April in the bridge area between Arbor Lane and Kirk Drive. About 5,551 vehicles use this roadway on an average day. The $1.7 million project removed and replaced the existing bridge with a new structure and roadway approaches. Minor work will continue in the bridge area through late August. Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns and allow extra time when traveling through the area. Work to replace the bridge that carries Hulton Road over Plum Creek in Plum Borough and Penn Hills will begin on Monday, April 2 weather permitting. This bridge is not to be confused with the Hulton Bridge, which carries traffic over the Allegheny River into Oakmont or Harmar. The $1.7 million project will remove and replace the existing bridge with a new structure and roadway approaches. Beginning at 9 a.m. on April 2, Hulton Road will be closed to thru-traffic in the bridge area between Arbor Lane and Kirk Drive through late May. The roadway will remain open to the bridge for emergency vehicles and local residents only. About 5,551 vehicles use this roadway on an average day. Signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closure. …
