A private Santa Claus visit with no distractions is planned at South Hills Village.
Children with special needs are invited to a special, private visit on Sunday with the South Hills Village Santa Claus. The Caring Santa event will take place 9 a.m.—before the mall opens to the public—to provide a subdued environment to visit the Santa Photo Experience. Along with an early opening, many other steps are taken to reduce sensory triggers, creating a more comforting environment for the children’s magical visit with Santa. The next session of Oakmont Carnegie Library's Inclusive Story Time for Special Needs Kids program will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. This program is free to the public, and is designed for children ages 18 and younger who have special needs. Siblings also are invited. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Children can enjoy snacks, a themed story time, a craft, and toys. Hand-fidgets are available for those who want or need them. Tactile, auditory, and visual learning opportunities are offered, as well as resources for parents seeking more information about their children’s diagnosis. The program used to be held on Thursdays, but this year, it will be held the fourth Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. The …
