Hulton Bridge Lane Restrictions to Occur Through June

The restrictions began Monday, April 29.

Anyone who crosses the Hulton Bridge during the day should expect some restrictions for the next two months. Lane restrictions on the Oakmont bridge began Monday, April 29. Short term lane restrictions on the east side of the bridge will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, including weekends, through June 29. Crews from Duquesne Light will be installing new poles. Restrictions to Occur on Freeport Road Tuesday

Anyone heading to Harmar from Oakmont should be aware of these restrictions.

Traffic on southbound Freeport Road will be reduced to a single lane today, April 23, in Harmar Township. The southbound right lane will be closed from the Hulton Bridge (connecting to Oakmont) to Powers Run Road. Restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Crews under contract with Verizon will be digging test holes to locate conduits. Bald Eagles: Scene Around the Plum-Oakmont Patch

Scott Weston, instructor at Oakmont Martial Arts, shared these beautiful photos with the Plum-Oakmont Patch.

It seems as though two bald eagles have been nesting in Harmar—and they're visible from Oakmont! According to WTAE, a pair of eagles are calling the ridge above Route 28 (right across from the Hulton Bridge in Harmar) home. Scott Weston, instructor at Oakmont Martial Arts, along Hulton Road took photos of the magestic creatures and shared them with the Plum-Oakmont Patch. New Hulton Bridge Plans Included in PennDOT's 2013 Construction Schedule

This year’s PennDOT construction work will include $282 million worth of road and bridge improvement projects.

This year’s PennDOT construction work will include $282 million worth of road and bridge improvement projects that hit every corner of Allegheny County. About half of the money being spent on road projects in the county will be spent on bridge reconstruction. One of the most significant projects to begin this year, is the Hulton Bridge replacement in Oakmont and Harmar, according to PennDOT officials. PennDOT District 11 Executive Dan Cessna said during a press conference last week that the project is estimated to cost between $60 million and $80 million. Traffic Advisory: Freeport Road/Route 910 Intersection Traffic Signal Maintenance

Here's an update from PennDOT.

traffic signal maintenance and improvements at the intersection of Route 910 and Freeport Road in Harmar Township will begin on Saturday, Feb. 23, weather permitting. Crews will replace lights, install new signal loops and perform other electrical maintenance in the intersection. Various lane closures and traffic shifts will occur while work occurs through March 1 according the following schedule: All turning movements will be accommodated. Hulton Bridge to Be Inspected Next Week

Traffic will be affected all week.

If you don't like sittingin traffic, you might want to avoid the Hulton Bridge next week. Work to inspect the Hulton Bridge will occur daily next week, Nov. 12 to 16, weather permitting.    The bridge carries Hulton Road over the Allegheny River in Oakmont and Harmar Township. Crews from SAI Consulting Engineers will conduct the work to inspect, clean and paint various areas of the structure. Single lane alternating use traffic will occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as needed each day. Paddle Without Pollution Volunteers Clean River Near Oakmont

A cleanup event was held in the area Saturday, Sept. 29.

Volunteers with Paddle Without Pollution picked up litter along the Allegheny Riverbanks, near Harmar and Oakmont on Saturday. The mission of the organization is to restore and protect the health of the rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands of Pennsylvania through hands-on stewardship and education.
