Oakmont Officials Still Waiting on Certified County Reassessment Numbers

The number is needed to determine the borough's 2013 property tax revenue.

Oakmont Borough council members are moving along with the budget process, though they have yet to receive certified assessment numbers from the county—something they need to determine how much tax revenue the borough will receive next year. The $3.35 million preliminary budget holds the line on taxes and reflects a 2.5 percent increase in anticipated real estate tax revenue due to the reassessments. However, that is just a guess—administrators won't know for sure how much tax revenue to expect until they receive that certified number from the state. Borough Manager Lisa Cooper Jensen said she had expected to receive that number by Dec. 17, but that date has been pushed back. Officials must pass a final budget by the end of the year, and …
