Riverview Bonfire Pumps Up Community Before Football Game Versus Springdale

The Riverview community gathered for a pep rally on Thursday night to show team spirit!

The Riverview Raiders were burnin' the house down with their team spirit on Thursday! The annual Raider bonfire was held at Riverside Park this year, and while the pep rally was an effort to celebrate all fall sports teams, everyone in attendance cheered on the football team—one night before they take on their rivals, the Springdale Dynamos. The bonfire was organized by the high school sports management class and teacher Patsy Kvortek. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Chris Carter cheered on the Raiders and offered a pep talk to the football team, telling them to "play with your heart" in a huddle. The community enjoyed chili, popcorn, music, entertainment and complimentary desserts. The football game will be today, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at …

I do not agree. The coaches put a lot of time in working with the kids and it is ridiculous how they are treated. In addition to that the teams they are going up against have more players to pull from. I think it would be nice to see what Coach Sacco could do in the next two years. The junior varsity team has won 3 of their 5 games. Two of the games were a landslide victory. Talent can't always …   more ›

Riverview Raiders' Soccer Seasons End

Both boys and girls teams fall short this year but next year looks promising.

Despite the win that Jeanette took over St. Joseph's to keep the Lady Raiders' playoff hopes alive, the girls team could not quite sail past St. Joseph's for a spot in post-season play. The boys team had a slight chance if all the cards fell into place, however, luck was not on their side this year. The Lady Raiders coasted through the season with much improvement. Although the scores of their matches do not justify their work ethic on the field, the Lady Raiders will be twice as ready to compete next season. Roya Fashandi, the strongest asset to the team as a central mid-fielder, earned a spot on the all-section team for the second year in a row and tallied 13 goals on the year.  The Lady Raiders had an impressive performance towards the …

Soccer Playoff Hopes On the Line for Riverview Raiders, Lady Raiders Don't Make It

Here's a Raider Reviews update.

In the past two weeks, the varsity soccer Lady Raiders have added one win, a tie and three losses to their record. Unfortunately, they didn't clinch a spot in their section playoffs. On the boy's side, they picked up some more speed to keep them rolling into potential post-season play. Although the Lady Raiders suffered a tough loss to Greensburg Central Catholic, they battled back against Geibel, defeating them 5-3. Roya Fashandi added three more goals to her season high while Victoria Tibbens tallied two goals on the match as well. The Lady Raiders changed their formation for an important game against Jeanette on the following Monday. Due to weather conditions, the girl's were forced to play their home match at Mckinley Field, where they…
