Remember to get Egg-cited About These Easter Egg Hunts

There are still plenty of opportunities for children to enjoy the Easter holiday.

Remember to enjoy these upcoming Easter Egg Hunts in the Plum-Oakmont area: Oakmont—Oakmont United Methodist Church will host an indoor egg hunt on Saturday, March 30, at 10:30 a.m. There will be a continental breakfast, crafts, special time with Pastor Linda and an egg hunt. Verona—The Verona Chamber of Commerce's Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. There is no cost to attend, and it will be held at the park next to the Verona Borough Building on East Railroad Avenue. Penn Hills—Trinity Tower UMC Youth Group is sponsoring an Easter Pancake Breakfast and Egg Hunt for children Saturday, March 30. Oakmont & Verona Kick Off the Holiday Season Saturday

The annual Christmas celebration and parade will be held Saturday, Nov. 17.

It's time to deck the halls in the Twin Boros this weekend! The Oakmont and Verona chambers of commerce are hosting the annual hometown Christmas celebration and parade on Saturday, Nov. 17. The parade begins at 5 p.m. in Oakmont this year and ends in Verona. Ian Petrella, the actor who plays Randy Parker in A Christmas Story,  will be this year's parade grand marshal. Fans will have an opportunity to meet Petrella after the parade.  Festivities begin at 4 p.m. on Allegheny River Boulevard in Verona and end at 7 p.m. there will be music, food and visits with Santa Claus in Verona. Verona Participates in County-Wide Bike Share Program

The Verona Chamber of Commerce and Dirty Harry's Bike Shop teamed up with Allegheny County to rent out bikes to county residents.

Barry Jeffries loves riding his bicycle, and he's taking part in a program that would make it easy for people to experience riding bikes. Jeffries, the owner of Dirty Harry's bike shop in Verona, has teamed up with the Verona Chamber of Commerce and Allegheny County to run a bike share program. The chamber received a $4,000 grant from the county health department to run the program, in which potential riders can "rent" bicycles from Dirty Harry's for three days. There is no cost to participate in the program or borrow a bike, and it is open to all Allegheny County residents. Jeffries and his team are housing 10 mountain bikes and a child's bike, complete with a kick stand, water bottle cages, helmets and a lock. People then can stop by the…

Photo Gallery: First-Annual Verona 5K

A little more than 70 runners and walkers participated in the Verona Chamber of Commerce's first-annual 5K.

The Verona Chamber of Commerce's first ever 5K was held on Saturday morning. More than 70 runners and walkers of all ages participated in the event, which benefits the Verona Streetscape Revitalization Project. Todd Rosio came in first place, running the course in 18 minutes and 24 seconds. Bob Ostrowski came in second place with a time of 18 minutes and 37 seconds. Verona Bike Derby, 5K Coming Up

Both events will be held Saturday, June 2.

Verona Borough is hosting two events June 2 that will cater to children and adults. Verona 5K Registration for the Verona Chamber of Commerce's first ever 5K will begin at 8 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m. Runners will begin at the Verona borough park gazebo on East Railroad Avenue and follow a course throughout the borough. The cost is $20 to register the morning of the 5K. The first 100 participants to register will receive a T-Shirt. The event benefits the Verona Streetscape Revitalization Project. Verona Council Notebook: May Regular Meeting

Here are some highlights from Verona Council's regular meeting on Tuesday, May 8. Council OKs Further Grant Applications In order to carry out a revitalization plan for its business district, Verona will need money—and a lot of it. That’s the message architectural consultant Mike Vento gave council Tuesday before members voted to seek out an additional $200,000 in development grants for next year. Verona was approved for a $143,000 grant last month. “We don’t have the cost of all this work. I can’t even give you an idea,” Vento said. “If we get $200,000, we’re probably not even halfway there.” The move means that the Verona Chamber of Commerce will begin the pre-application process for the grant, pledging to match 15 percent of funds …

The children stocked up on treats and visited with the Easter Bunny at the Verona Chamber of Commerce's Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.

The Easter Bunny stopped by Verona Saturday to greet all the local children. At the Verona Chamber of Commerce's Easter Egg Hunt, children visited with the bunny, searched for eggs and stocked up on some sweet treats. Celebrate Christmas with the Verona Chamber of Commerce

The party will be on Dec. 9, but tickets must be purchased by Dec. 6.

The Verona Chamber of Commerce will hold a Christmas party on Friday, Dec. 9. The party will be held at the Verona Moose—formerly the Nardoni Dom Club, located at 312 Arch St.—from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. The cost of $27.50 per person includes food, beer and soda. There will be a cash bar, a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction. Dinner will be catered by Cuisine Consultants. Those who do attend are asked to bring an unwrapped toy and/or food item for the Verona Food Bank. The deadline to buy tickets is Tuesday, Dec. 6. Second Annual Verona Street Festival to be Held Saturday

The festival will be on Allegheny River Boulevard between South and Center avenues. It starts immediately after the 5 p.m. Christmas parade on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Excitement will be all over the main street in Verona on Saturday. Following the 5 p.m. Oakmont-Verona Christmas Parade there will be the Second Annual Verona Street Festival.  Frosty the Snowman and the Grinch will be visiting Verona and all of the street festival patrons.  Thanks to the support of the Verona Chamber of Commerce and additional donations from Xycom Technology, Stockman Landscape, Events by Sherri, the Boulevard Gallery and resident Denise Gemellas, this year has more to offer the community.    The chamber will be selling the soon-to-be famous "Conte’s Cakes" made by borough Councilman Dom Conte to raise money for next year's street festival. The 36th Annual Oakmont-Verona Christmas Parade and Festival will be held on Nov. 19. Check out a schedule of events: 5 p.m.—The Christmas parade begins in front of the Verona Borough Building and ends in Oakmont.
