Xristos Anesti, Christ is Risen!
Today is Orthodox Easter, meaning Editor Heidi Dezayas and her family will be celebrating a second Easter.
Ever since I moved to Pittsburgh, I've been celebrating Easter and Orthodox Easter—this year is no different! My Papou (Greek for grandfather), a Verona resident, is Greek, so my entire family here always has celebrated Orthodox Easter. I was born and raised in Florida, baptized Catholic, and have celebrated "American Easter" all my life. I remember growing up and calling my grandfather on Orthodox Easter just to say, "Xristos Anesti" (Christ is Risen!), and he'd reply with, "Alithos Anesti" (Truly, He is Risen!). Many years, we'd come to Verona during our spring breaks, and American Easter and Greek Easter fell on the same Sunday.
