ReplyI would turn it into a Funky Family friendly sandwich/coffee shop that has a stage for live acoustic sets like "The Purple Fiddle in Thomas West Virginia"

Have local made items on the shelves to sell, good music, a cozy environment and great simple food.
Anyone want to lend me the money?

ReplyGrowing up with a learning disabled sibling, I heard this word a lot in my 41 years.
Doctors, psychologists, family members and by other learning disabled people.
It was what was used to describe the condition of the development. It was also used as a slur in demeaning comments to my sister and a defense against me. " So Your sister is RETARDED!" I learned to brush it off. I knew what her abilities were and the truth was Challenged people were better company than most of my so called normal friends.
There was no governor on their thoughts and many comments were just blurted out
This made for some interesting conversations with strangers. The word retarded is in my history, but has lost it's meaning to me.
It was a word of the past to describe a disability. Now people use LD and Downs,
in conversation. Still not correct and no better than retarded.Mark Harley

ReplyHow about community service for the teen thieves.
They could all help the home owner set up the display next year "and take it down."
Maybe make them wear bright ORANGE jump suits like a chain gang?

ReplyThis is not the first use of The town of Oakmont in the Movies.
Fred Rodgers shot an episode at a church on 4th street.
The 1992 movie Passed Away was shot here too!

Live music is the seller. People want a place to hang out with the family.
Not a sports bar with 100 TV sets blaring, booze and microwave food.
as for the past coffee shops they were not inviting from the start.
Wait until Trader Joe's opens in at the Edgewater retail strip site.
we had 5 grocery stores in Oakmont in the past, But they all went out due to shoppers wanting bigger and better.
